Not for just the hours a week spent in training!

Aikido training is accumulative, which means that techniques and knowledge are built up over a period of time through regular and constant practice - in the same way as any other art or skill is acquired.

Any interruption to the routine regular training is not merely a break, it is a step backwards. It is well know that any break from training takes twice as long to make up. Therefore an interruption of two weeks will take a further month to recover. A total of six weeks to get back to where one started. This becomes a problem during the holiday season where students feel they should stop training just prior to their holiday and then take a couple of weeks after the holiday before making the effort to get back into training.

At all the Kikusui Kai Dojo's (Training Hall) students come together to train the body and mind. The atmosphere is fairly informal, but should be respectful at all times, which requires concentration and discipline. The training is demanding because because of the subtleties of the techniques taught. The classes are closely supervised. At every lesson the students are encouraged to give of their best, both physically and mentally.
